RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -- Geisy Arruda is dancing proof that nowhere is transformation more achievable than in Brazil's Carnival, ripe with fantasy and metamorphosis.

The 20-year-old college student from a poor family gained worldwide attention last fall when she was expelled for wearing a miniskirt to class. Three months and four plastic surgeries later, she will parade Monday at the helm of a top-tier Rio de Janeiro samba group's parade float -- her third high-profile spot in this year's three largest Carnival parades.

Arruda said she will parade in a "Carnivalized" version of the pink dress she wore when she was hounded out of class by catcalling students -- a piece of cloth that will show off her newly sculpted body.

"I confess, I'm a vain girl, and the changes I've made have given me the confidence I need to dance in these Carnivals," Arruda told The Associated Press. "The entire world is looking at every part of you. They demand a lot of Brazilian women during Carnival, you have to be perfect, impeccable.

Arruda was forced to put on a professor's white coat and was escorted from class by police Oct. 22 amid a hail of insults and curses from other students. Videos of the incident went viral on the Internet.

The uproar caused her college to take disciplinary action -- against her, not those who belittled the jovial blonde. She was expelled for what officials called provocative behavior in a country widely known for revealing clothing.

A national outcry ensued, and Arruda was quickly reinstated.

But she never returned, saying initially that she feared for her safety. Instead she went under the wing of a few stylists and hairdressers in Sao Paulo who saw her battle as one against sexism and discrimination in Brazil's macho culture.

Arruda's physical transformation came through liposuction that removed 11 pounds (5 kilograms) of fat from her abdominal region. Part of that fat was then injected into her face to make her cheekbones more prominent, and, this being Brazil, much of the rest was added to her rear to give it more oomph. She also had breast augmentation surgery and countless other non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

All was paid for through donations collected by her hairdresser, Arruda said.

Fernando de Barros e Silva, a columnist for the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, wrote in Monday's edition that there was

nothing wrong with the attention being paid to Arruda.

"There still exists, perhaps, the temptation to criticize the fascination of the girl and her disposable fame," he wrote. "But why? She's not more vulgar than the media's appetite for her. She's not more frivolous than celebrity journalism and it's consumers."

All of which, perhaps, is over intellectualizing the situation -- especially given Arruda's happy-go-lucky attitude.

While she says she was disgusted by being driven from school and plans to return as soon as possible, in virtually the same breath she reveals she is enjoying her accidental fame.

At the end of an interview, she paused for a split second, then asked: "Will you be needing any photos for this story?

There are old ones of me floating around in the media, and I definitely want you to have more recent photos that show the new me."

স্বামী-স্ত্রীরা একে অপরের সঙ্গে প্রতারণা করছেন ফেসবুকে৷ গোপনে প্রেম কিংবা পরকীয়ার খোঁজও চলে ফেসবুকে৷ আর এই ধারা নাকি দিনকে দিন বাড়ছে৷

তাই বিচ্ছেদের মামলা চালিয়ে থাকেন এমন আইনজীবীরা ফেসবুককে বেছে নিচ্ছেন বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদের কারণ তথা প্রতারণার প্রমাণ হিসেবে৷
সাম্প্রতিক এক জরিপের বরাত দিয়ে নিউ ইয়র্ক পোস্ট জানিয়েছে, ৮২ শতংশ বিবাহ বিষয়ক আইনজীবী মনে করেন, গত পাঁচ বছরে বিচ্ছেদের কারণ হিসেবে সামাজিক নেটওয়ার্কিং সাইটগুলো থেকে নেয়া নানা তথ্য ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে৷
আর যেসব সাইবার তথ্য সাক্ষ্য প্রমাণ হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে তার একটা বড় অংশ জুড়ে আছে ফেসবুকে প্রেমিক/প্রেমিকাকে পাঠানো বার্তা বা সেখানে প্রকাশিত নানা ছবি৷
বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদে ইন্টারনেটের অবদান নিয়ে এই সমীক্ষা চালিয়েছে অ্যামেরিকান অ্যাকাডেমি অব ম্যাট্রিমোনিয়াল লইয়ার্স৷ সংগঠনটির সহ-সভাপতি কেন আল্টশুলার জানিয়েছেন, গত ছয়মাসে আমি যতজন মক্কেল পেয়েছি তাদের সবার ফেসবুক পাতা রয়েছে৷ আর আমি তাদেরকে প্রথমে যে উপদেশটা দিয়েছি, তাহলো ফেসবুক পাতা বন্ধ কর৷
সমীক্ষায় অংশ নেয়াদের মধ্যে ৬৬ শতাংশ জানিয়েছেন বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদে তারা ফেসবুক থেকে নেয়া বিভিন্ন তথ্য উপাত্ত সাক্ষী হিসেবে ব্যবহার করেছেন৷ অন্যদিকে মাইস্পেস থেকে তথ্য নিয়েছেন ১৫ শতাংশ আর টুইটার থেকে মাত্র ৫ শতাংশ ব্যক্তি৷
আল্টশুলার তাঁর অভিজ্ঞতা থেকে বলেন, কিছুদিন আগে এক মহিলা আমার কাছে এসেছিলেন বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদের দাবি নিয়ে, কারণ ছিল তার স্বামীর মাত্রাতিরিক্ত মদ্যপান৷ কিন্তু আদালতে মহিলার স্বামী জানালো তিনি মদ্যপান মাস কয়েক আগেই ছেড়ে দিয়েছেন৷ তারপরও বাধ সাধলো ফেসবুক৷ সেখানে পাওয়া এক ছবিতে দেখা গেল ভদ্রলোক আদালতে উপস্থিত হবার সপ্তাহ তিনেক আগেও মুখে মারিওয়ানা আর দু'হাতে বিয়ারের বোতল নিয়ে এক পার্টিতে ছবি তুলেছিলেন৷
অনেকে অযথা ফেসবুকে ভুল তথ্য দিয়েও নাকি বিচ্ছেদ মামলার শিকার হচ্ছেন৷ এমনই এক উদাহরণ দিয়ে আল্টশুলার জানান, দিন কয়েক আগে এক মক্কেল এসে জানালো তার স্ত্রী নাকি ফেসবুকে নিজের বিবাহ বিচ্ছেদ হয়ে গেছে বলে খবর দিয়ে নতুন সঙ্গী খুঁজছেন৷ এই দুঃখে আসল বিচ্ছেদ চান তিনি৷ কিন্তু আদালতে সেই মহিলা জানালেন, স্বামী কতটা সহনশীল তা পরীক্ষা করতে ফেসবুকে এমন কথা লিখেছিলেন তিনি৷

A wild-card inclusion for Bangladesh's maiden tour of England in 2005, Mushfiqur Rahim was just 16 when he was selected for that daunting trip - two Tests in May, followed by six ODIs against England and Australia - even though he hadn't been named in the preliminary squad of 20. Mushfiqur was principally selected as an understudy to the ever-present wicketkeeper, Khaled Mashud, but his inclusion was further evidence of Bangladesh's determination to build for a better future. He had done well on an A-team tour of Zimbabwe earlier in 2005, scoring a century in the first Test at Bulawayo, and also enjoyed some success in England the previous year with the Under-19s, making 88 in the second Test at Taunton. He showed more evidence of grit with the full team, with a maiden first-class half-century to soften the pain of defeat against Sussex, followed by a career-best 115 against Northamptonshire. That earned him a call-up - as a batsman - to become the youngest player to appear in a Test match at Lord's. He was one of only three players to reach double figures in a disappointing first innings, but a twisted ankle kept him out of the second Test. After captaining Bangladesh's Under-19s to fifth place in the Youth World Cup in February 2006, he also featured in Bogra's inaugural Test, against Sri Lanka the following month, but could make little of the spin of Murali and Malinga Bandara. He remained on the sidelines for the next few months but was recalled for the final two ODIs against Zimbabwe at home in December. He scored his maiden half-century at Harare in February 2007 and was picked as the first-choice wicketkeeper, ahead of Khaled Mashud, for the World Cup in the West Indies.

He shows sound technique in his glovework and is Bangladesh's first-choice wicketkeeper after Dhiman Ghosh's departure to the ICL. A stodgy lower-order batsman, Mushfiqur has grown into one of the better players of spin in the line-up. After a slow start to his Test career, he found form in the 2008-09 season with stubborn knocks under pressure. He has under-performed as a batsman in ODIs, but his form picked up in 2009 and he narrowly missed out on a maiden ODI hundred on the tour to Zimbabwe. In January 2010 he cracked his maiden Test century, a notable achievement as it came against a strong Indian Test side and was the fastest by a Bangladesh player.

Juhi Chawla (Hindi: जूही चावला, born 13 November 1967) is an Indian actress, film producer and television presenter.

After being crowned as the winner of the Miss India beauty contest in 1984, Chawla pursued an acting career.
