Rezwan Chowdhury Banna (Singer)

Rezwana Chowdhury is a famous Rabindrasangeet singer hailed in both sides of Bangla for her uniqueness and style. She was born in Dhaka and her parents who admired Tagore a lot named her Labannya after the famous character of Tagore’s novel ‘Shesher Kabita’. Labannya later became banya, but she also gradually developed a strong love for Tagore’s work. Her early learning started under Sanjida Khatun and Atiqul Islam, two renowned artists of the Rabindrasangeet genre at Chhayanat In 1975, Bannya won a scholarship to attend Tagore's institution in Santiniketan (India) to study music at Shanti Niketan, she came nearer to legendary singer Kanika Banerjee and became one of her most celebrated protégés. In 1981, Bannya completed her Master's degree in Fine Arts and returned to Bangladesh.
